Well, since I was diagnosed with GDM during my first pregnancy, I was asked by my gynae to do the glucose test early in the pregnancy.
It was such a miserable experience the first time, I still remember. The glucose water was just too sweet and too difficult to ingest. Urghhh. I dreaded doing it the second time, but I know this is for my own good (and obviously for the baby).
But to my surprise, the glucose water that I had to drink this time is pleasantly prepared (and dare I say, delicious?). I opted for the chilled glucose water, so that really helps. I drank the 300ml in less than 1 minute, even the lab technician was impressed.
But as expected, I’m diabetic again this time. Even worse than the first time. The nurse has called me to share the results, but I’m yet to meet my doctor for review and to discuss further actions. My next appointment will be on 3rd August. I’m hoping that I don’t have to take insulins injection, but I’m ready for anything just to ensure the safety of our baby.
So I got my diabetic test kit out again. This was my best friend during my first pregnancy, and definitely going to be my best friend this time around. Had to buy a new pen needle as the old one was already obsolete and I can’t find the lancets in the market anymore (that’s what happened after 5 years of not being pregnant hehe).
I don’t enjoy getting my finger pricked 6-7 times a day. But I just had to.
Anyways. I’m hoping for a safe and healthy pregnancy. Please pray for us, ya!
